The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently announced that between October 2023 and August 2024, it housed 43,116 veterans experiencing homelessness, and 96.3% of those veterans have not returned to homelessness.

This month, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced $686,019 for the state of Iowa and the city of Des Moines to prevent or address homelessness after extreme storms, flooding, and tornadoes in May.
