HUD Allocates $869K to Prevent Homelessness After Foster Care
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently announced $869,000 for 14 public housing authorities (PHAs) in 10 different states , totaling 86 vouchers.
The vouchers are non-competitive, awarded on a rolling basis, and part of the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) Initiative , which makes housing choice vouchers available to PHAs for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who left foster care or will leave foster care in the next 90 days and are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The PHAs must have a partnership with public child welfare agencies.
