Continuum of Care Program Applications Are Due September 30
Earlier this month, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced $2.8 billion in competitive funding for homeless services organizations.
The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program provides the largest source of federal grant funding for homeless services and housing programs serving people experiencing homelessness.
Applications are due September 30 , and CoCs can renew existing projects, apply for new projects, or reallocate resources from lower-performing projects.
Unlike previous years, this year’s Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) has been further expanded for Indian Tribes and Tribally Designated Housing Entities who are now invited to form CoCs and be designated as Collaborative Applicants. This year's NOFO also contains explicit funding for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and for youth, including:
- At least $52 million for new rapid rehousing, supportive services, and other activities critical to assist survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking
- Approximately $80 million for non-competitive Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) renewal and replacement expiring grants
The funding reflects the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to equity and evidence-based solutions to address homelessness and reinforces its commitment to boost housing supply and lower housing costs.
