VA Awards $64.7M in Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Funding
The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded 36 capital grants , totaling $64.7 million , to community organizations under VA’s Grant and Per Diem (GPD) program to improve the quality of housing options for Veterans experiencing homelessness.
The awards, which are funded by the American Rescue Plan, allow grantees to construct new buildings and renovate existing transitional housing facilities , which provide more than 900 beds nationwide for homeless Veterans. The funds will also reduce the use of group housing and increase the use of individual unit-style living.
The grants are part of a limited series of capital grants designed to provide COVID-19 relief.
