Labor Department Awards $52M to Help Veterans Experiencing Homelessness

This week, the Department of Labor announced more than $52 million in grants to help veterans experiencing homelessness reenter the workforce.

The money can be used to provide training, skills development, career support, and other services for veterans who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of it. It’s part of the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program and administered by the department’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS).

In addition to working with VETS, grant recipients will partner with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Supportive Services for Veteran Families program and the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care program .

The department will award 119 continuation grants totaling more than $40 million and 36 new three-year grants totaling more than $12 million.
