HUD and VA Announce 7,000 New HUD-VASH Vouchers for Homeless Veterans
Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) made $78 million available in more than 7,000 HUD-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) vouchers for veterans experiencing homelessness.
This adds to the more than 113,000 HUD-VASH vouchers that are currently being administered by more than 750 PHAs. Since 2008, HUD has issued new HUD-VASH vouchers every year.
The HUD-VASH Program combines HUD’s housing choice vouchers with VA-provided case management and clinical services. VA provides these services for participating veterans at VA medical centers, community-based outreach clinics, through VA contractors, or through other VA-designated entities.
