HUD Allocates $800,000 to Prevent or End Homelessness After Foster Care
This month, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated $800,000 in funding for 18 public housing authorities (PHAs) in 12 different states, totaling 84 vouchers.
This funding opportunity is part of the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative, which provides housing vouchers to youth aged 18-24 who have left foster care or will leave foster care within 90 days and are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Through FYI, PHAs work with public child welfare agencies and other community organizations.
