Primer on How to Use Medicaid to Assist Persons who are Homeless

In 2014, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, Office of Disability, Aging and Long-Term Care Policy at the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published a Primer that provides strategies that have succeeded in the past and some that are emerging under provisions of the Affordable Care Act. It includes innovative strategies for incorporating Medicaid benefits into supportive services for people experiencing homelessness and describes opportunities for states to use Medicaid to support services critical for people experiencing chronic homelessness or living in Permanent Supportive Housing.
