HUD, VA to Fund Permanent Supportive Housing for 676 Veterans Experiencing Homelessness
June 13, 2011
In the fourth and final round of HUD-VASH funding, The Departments and Housing and Urban Development and Veterans Affairs announced today that 676 Veterans experiencing homelessness will receive permanent housing and case management through the HUD-VASH voucher program.
These vouchers will enable Veterans experiencing homelessness to access affordable housing with an array of supportive services.
This funding to local housing authorities is part of the Obama Administration’s strategy to end Veteran and long-term chronic homelessness by 2015. Opening Doors: Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness serves as a roadmap for how the federal government will work with state and local agreements to confront the root causes of homelessness, especially among former Servicemen and women.
